Weeds are a problem to farmers but can be controlled with landscape fabric.  Weeds:  not only do they utilize nutrients that are destined for the crops grown commercially, but they will in many occasions grow faster than vegetables and block the solar exposure to the desired plants, become a nest for pathogenic insects and overall decrease air flow, which in turn increases fungal attacks to the crop.
